Welcome to
Christ Church Cathedral School!
We are an authentic, personalized, child-centred and welcoming community.
Our school welcomes children from all backgrounds and provides an exceptional education experience. We offer smaller class sizes with a true community feel if you are looking for focused options outside the public system.
Although aligned with the provincial curriculum, we offer excellent extra-curricular study in the arts, community engagement and support, and many clubs to support the interests and hobbies of our students. Our strong Anglican foundation also supports robust values-based learning in everything we do.
Our goal is to prepare children to be well-rounded empathic, and supportive citizens in the community and support each other in their education journey. We have empathic and focused teachers with diverse skills and backgrounds and strong education assistance support. Aligned with our smaller class sizes, your child will have solid support in learning.
We believe that all students should have the opportunity to attend CCCS. Our pricing is competitive as an independent school, and we offer bursaries to families seeking financial assistance.

Junior Kindergarten (JK)
We believe that children learn through play and hands-on experiences. Our warm, welcoming and inviting centres allow children to explore endless possibilities. We take a child-centred approach to our daily programming.
Educators provide open-ended activities and experiences to encourage each child to develop social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skills. We provide opportunities for the children to grow spiritually through connections to animals, people and the land.
We believe that learning about Anglican faith teachings of kindness, love, and compassion through music, stories, and art will help build a strong foundation of love, kindness and lifelong learning.
A child-based approach is used in presenting an emergent curriculum. Successions of various long and short projects are used throughout the year. Examples of some of these projects include friendships, all about me, seasons, international holidays and celebrations, colours and shapes, transportation, tools and machines, day and night, weather patterns, animals, butterflies, insects, plants and oceans.
Our educators are licenced and experienced Early Childhood Educators and Early Childhood Educational Assistants who understand the importance of families and teamwork. The educators continually work on curriculum development and must keep abreast of best practices by attending regular professional development sessions and ongoing training.
Our Junior Kindergarten, or JK, is where differences are celebrated, cultures are varied and acceptance, kindness, and compassion are at the heart of our teaching approach.

Kindergarten to Grade 8
The primary school building is a beautiful heritage building built in 1923 and is celebrating its centennial this year.
The school offers a rigorous academic program with individual support and guidance where needed—an advantage of our smaller class sizes. According to provincially administered assessments, we regularly rank as one of the top schools in Victoria. Outstanding teachers are committed to bringing out the best in every student. The school’s motto is “let your light shine.”
Academic Excellence
The core subjects are foundational to all subsequent learning in school. Learning in Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and French (which begins in kindergarten, is made richer with our many field trips, hands-on projects, integrated technologies, and our teachers’ skills at employing effective techniques to keep students engaged. While following the BC curriculum, we also provide opportunities for enrichment and exceptional support, resulting in students who reach their potential and are well-prepared for success in high school and beyond.
Athletics
Our athletic program sets our students on a path to a long life of physical health through team sports and individual athletic pursuits. Students are introduced to various sports and opportunities to hone their skills and engage in competition. Our partnership with the YMCA/YWCA next door provides additional facilities and opportunities for physical training.
Fine Arts
Whether it’s band, choir, drama, or visual arts, CCCS Cathedral School has the finest teachers and programs that nurture the creativity e expression of our students and develop a love of the arts. Performances in the Cathedral lend a spectacular backdrop to our concerts and productions. Christ Church Cathedral provides a magnificent venue for school performances.
Smaller Classes Mean More Individual Attention
Our smaller classes mean your child receives more teacher time, more opportunities to learn, ask questions, and receive feedback and guidance. Our students learn to think critically and develop the academic and social skills that will enable them to face new challenges as they gain increasing independence.
